Puhunui Horse Trials
Well i have to say the weather was pretty bad saturday with the storm that was hanging around……but not as bad as it was at this event last year on the saturday!!
Donna ran 3 in the advanced with Chocolate, he was 2nd after the dressage behind Shelley Ross and her wonderfull mare Alberta Tomba(who unfortunately had a fall at the 2nd to last on the turning corners…they were looking amazing before that). Choccy was very bold and opinionated on the xc……im sure he thinks he knows it all, and im thinking his thick snaffle may change to a thin 1!! finishing 3rd behind both Simon Gordons horses.Simon had a super run xc and his horses looked amazing xc. 4th in the advanced was Danni Lodder on Petra Easton’s Moochi. Just moved upto this level and looking fabulous. 5th was Henton Executive also having his first start and looking like a xc machine,(his nickname is the god father, he just takes care of things out on the xc) Balmoral Sensation had his first Advanced run, our first Balmoral horse in NZ to go Advanced so exciting for us, same score as Chocco on the flat, clear SJ but 5time faults, caused Donna to get in trouble by the coach! and a super clear XC to qualify them for 3*. Balmoral Tangolooma,,, with springs in his feet, doing his second Intermediate, 4th on the flat, 2nd after the SJ behind Angela Lloyd and Song. Donna and Bones aka Tanglooma run on the theory of faster… bigger.. higher.. and they were certainly getting serious airtime XC, to stay in 2nd behind Song. Jeremy Clarke on Meeresbrook Sparkling Ripple finished a very good 3rd followed by Sophie Wilkinson on Turbulance then kelsey Rotherey who continues to impress with her xc riding on the Felon.
Waitangi My Space, (Jos and John Baileys) doing his first Novice, did a lovely test, had the first fence down SJ, clear XC to get Waitangi My Spaces first horse trial points for a 5th placing.
Balmoral Fiddlesticks, and i braved the weather on the saturday, did a brave dressage test in the main arena for fiddles,, clear sj,, and he was a big,, little superstar XC to finish 2nd in the 5 and 6 year olds pre novice, Behind Kate Lambie’s home bred Absoluo.3rd in this class was Louise Leonard on A Country Star followed by Lauren Cooney on Zues Almighty.
Kalua owned by Cate Wilson who was down at Manfield getting blown off her dressage horse and supporting Louisa Hill….(Vinny)performed really well in the conditions and finished 6th in his training.
Our kids performed well with Izzy Turner running 2nd on NRM Cruisin Time in the Amatuer Pre Novice, Tessa Anderson has her first Novice start on Drums n Roses for a clear xc, Alex Muir has his own Like a box of Chocolates in the Pre novice and is looking great xc, Alex also rode Troy and Xena for Event secreatery’s Vicki and John Lawson/and his land lords around the training for great xc rounds.
This week i’m really excited to be getting some visiters from Aus, my mum and dad will be here for the week of HOY as well as Amanda Chintock a very good friend of mine. We head off to HOY on the Sunday i think…..with our 2 babys doing the level 1 dressage Balmoral Oakey and Balmoral Henton…although Rosari Dante is on standby if either of those feel they dont want to make the trip. Knightly Venture will do the Level 2. Donna will ride Just Chocolate, Henton Executive and Balmoral Sensation in the 3* with Balmoral Tangalooma in the 2*.
We are enjoying our Coaching on Wednesday/Thursday afternoons and can safely say that we can fit them in as well and its not as hectic as we first thought.
We will try to report while at HOY as there is no LIVE SCORING but if not will be back in 2 weeks.
